Meet Our Readers
Holly Miller, Castalia
By Sharon Sweda, Feature Writer
Growing up in the Great Lakes’ region has many unique opportunities. One of those opportunities is the pleasure of playing and swimming in nearby Lake Erie. For Castalia residents, former swim instructor Holly Miller is just the gal to guarantee that swimmers are well-trained and safe when they enjoy the water.

A lifelong resident of the area, Holly is the former swim coach and instructor at her alma mater. Holly is the director of swim programs for the Margaretta school system and teaches everything from basic, Learn-to-Swim, to life guarding, open swim and lap swimming. As a youngster, Holly’s family spent many years residing at the Castalia Trout Club where her folks, Floyd and Wanda Stewart managed the operation of the attraction, The Blue Hole. Holly and husband Steve reside in Castalia but also spend much time at their Kelleys Islands island home.
When asked what Holly enjoys most about Leisure Living Magazine, she was quick to respond. “It is so interesting to have a publication that features our local attractions. I love to read about the great volunteers in the area and to learn about new restaurants.”
The Miller’s have a grown son in Cleveland and a daughter in North Carolina. In the absence of their children, Holly and Steve share their home with Brody, their boxer, a therapy dog. “We utilize Brody’s therapy training with visits to schools, libraries, the Veterans Home and other care facilities. He loves the attention, love and abundance of biscuits,” mused Holly. Brody has been in service for about three years, but best of all, he too is an avid reader of Leisure Living Magazine.
According to Holly, “Brody reads Leisure Living Magazine from cover to cover and never misses an issue”!

Hello -
.....this past month held health challenges for some
of our friends, readers and supporters.
Let’s start with the good news! Congratulations
to our friend Toni who received a clean bill of health after taking drastic treatment measures for her breast cancer. She’s a fighting tiger and we are so happy she has triumphed. Best wishes for your continued good health, Toni. You have my admiration!
Our Arts and Entertainment Editor Sherri Roth is in our thoughts as she perseveres in her battle with breast cancer. We are sending out healing vibrations.
Sherri you are an inspiration.
To another friend whose husband suffers from early
onset Alzheimer’s, we have both of you in our thoughts as we work and pray for a cure for this despicable disease.
Be thankful for your good health, if you are so blessed. Life is sweet.
Enjoy Lake Erie’s transition into Autumn. We’ll see you again in late September.
LeisurelyYours -
